Day 2 of the SPART ACtion Winter Games. 8th Feb 2008
Day two got off to a bit of a slow Start. I think everyone was
feeling a bit tired from playing Cripple Mr Shithead the night before. When
I got to the Ormeau Park bandstand I was the only one there. I then saw
Sinead O'Donnell, a local Performance Artist, sitting on the
benches near the bandstand. Sinead had come down for the games. It was nice
to see her. We hadn't seen each other in ages so, the potential for fun was
already there.
I told her that on my way to the park I'd kept thinking about
the occult potential of hopscotch. This is a game that interested
me a lot. It was first used by the Roman Army to train their
foot soldier and improve
there footwork
in fighting. I thought an occult version of it would be great.
the first thing I did was draw out a large hopscotch board Sinead
drew a small one for playing finger hopscotch. I then filled
the big one with Magickal
Symbols.
The idea was simple: You through the stone into the square containing
the magickal symbol you wanted to use in a spell. You then tried
to complete the hopscotch hopping cycle and get the stone on
your way back. If you succeeded you got the symbol for your
spell. The first person to complete the whole spell by getting one of each
symbol
won the
game and therefore automatically cast the spell. The spell contained
in the hopscotch board was one for interesting adventures.
A good prize to win I thought. I didn't tell Sinead what the
spell was. we began playing.

After a while some artists who were over visiting form Finland
turned up. To see what SPART was about. They were really nice
guy's, one of them was called Anttia, but the others guys name
I couldn't even make a stab at spelling.
We stood and chatted for a while. They had been on the SPART
web site and we amused by my magicakl experiments. They told
me some stories about Black metal fans in Finland and how 'axing' people
was
fashionable among black metal fans. Axing is pretty much the
same as stabbing someone expect it is done with an axe instead
of a knife. Sinead took a few photos. They are the black and
white ones
on this web page. After a bit of chatting Sinead invited me back
to hers to have a cup of coffee with them. I knew Paul was at
home sick, but would be out in a while and meabh would
be down to the park in a while so I figured I had time for a
coffee.
When I got round Sinead's my phone battery died, so I had to
phone Paul and Meabh From Sinead's home phone. I arranged for
them to come round to Sinead's. We hung out and chatted for a
while. When Meabh and Paul came round we tested out the paintball
gun I had bought for Meabh's performance later on that day. I
pinged Sinead's front window a few times. It worked fine. Then it broke.
Bullocks I thought.
We left Sinead's and headed off to pick Luke up form school,
the two Finish guys came with us. We had a bit of a chat on the
way which was nice. It was a real shame though we didn't get to fully SPART
together.
At the end of the road we parted ways,
the Fins headed for town and we went up the Ormeau We got Luke
from School, passed Paul's house on the way back to drop Paul
off and Pic Caroline up and then we all went back to the Ormeau park. Not
long
After we arrived, Sinead Bhreathnach-Cashell and The Gird showed
up.

The Grid (pictured above, with Caroline in the background) was
still wearing his headband form the day before. He was on a mission to bring
it back as some kind of fashion
statement. After a bit of chit-chat and the eating of sweets,
Meabh headed to the bushes and
put on her rabbit outfit.
When she came back we played several games that involved chasing
her around. My favorite was the one based on clay pigeon shooting.
Basically, each of us had a turn with the paintball gun. When
we were ready we shouted
'PULL' and Meabh ran
from one grass bank to the other. The person who shot her won.
Unfortunately we were all a shit shot and so no body won. there
is a picture of The Grid below, just before he had a go at this. Caroline
is in the background. The Grid looks like a skinny Rambo
with his head band on. In
the end we chased Meabh around and covered her in mud. That was
her idea, not our sadism.
After this we played a bit of Stick-in-the-mud and some other
chasing games. We ate more sweets and then wondered off to the nearby golf
course to build sand castles in their sand traps. It was good fun. After
this we went home and got
some nice fish and chips.

That evening we went round to Sinead Bhreathnach-Cashell's and had
a cozy night in with Parlor games. I knocked the door and The
Grid answered it dressed up like a goth. On entering the House I saw that
he had laid
out a big pentagram in sugar on the floor.
I made a mental note of it in case I wanted to do any Magick later
on. The invite to the cosy night in had asked up to bring something
that made us feel comfortable. So I had put on my dad shirt and brought
a copy of Liber Null and Psychonaut by Peter Carol.
The Grid has organized most of the Parlor games, although Gerard
had also prepared one. The games planned for the evening included
things like
Psychic Pictionary and Ouija Boggle. Gerard and I proved to be the best and Psychic Pictionary, but most people
put this down too the fact that we are brother and therefore it is more likely that we would know what each other was thinking.
After Psychic pictionary we moved on to play Bungo, which is a game
of dares involving a dice. In the end I got lumbered with a whole
host of dares. I have promised that I will do them and give everyone
present a video
of them.
Some of the other players decided to do there dares that night
to varying degrees of success.
