Image (above): The 'Man From Icon documentation sheet Gavin used to record his thought, movements etc while on the residency. Each day of the residency Gavin used these sheets in quite different ways. Some days he used them to make lists of movements, some days he uses them to record thoughts and feelings. Each sheet demonstrates a different way in which Gavin has chosen to manifest his relationship with Belfast.

Images (Above and Below): Polaroid images taken by Gavin of some places and things he saw in Belfast that he saw in Belfast that he either liked or interested him. Please see polaroid list for what/where these things are.

Documents of Gavin's Residency
22nd May 2006
What follows are scanned copies of the documents Gavin Peackock sent to the Centre for Suburban research after his 1st day of exploring Belfast and building a relationship with the place.

Image (above): Gavin's 'Man from Icon' map of Belfast which he produced before coming on his residency. Marked on the map is Gavin's route through Belfast on this day of the residency. Gavin has intentionally removed the names of the streets from the map because they ar incidental to him because he has never explored Belfast before. If you are trying to understand this map, the large Blue line at the bottom is the River Lagan, and the point at which the line crosses it is the bridge which unites the lower and upper Ormeau Road. The Arrows on the map indicating the direction of Gavin's travel are heading in towards the city centre.

Image (Above): Gavin's 'Man From Icon' Music of the tunes he listened to on his Ipod which became his sound track to Belfast on this day of his residency.

Images (Above and Below): front and back of Gavin's polaroid list. the Numbers of the photographs on his list match the order of the images to the left of this page. On the Polaroid list Gavin has also documented the time at which on this day he found these places.
