ARTS BIRTHDAY

What is Art's Birthday?
This Event is dedicated to the memory of Robert Filliou, who on the 17th January 1963 declared that art had been born exactly 1,000,000 years ago on when someone dropped a dry sponge into a pail of water. Since this historic moment people all over the world have been celebrating arts birthday every year. This year on the 17th January 2007 art will be exactly 1,000,044 years old!

To mark this historic occasion SPART ACTION Group are creating a Birthday Party for art at the Centre for Suburban Research in Belfast. Like every good Birthday Party we will have food, cake and party games. But because it is arts birthday we have decided to open up our archives and share all the great things friends from all over the world have made and given to us over the past several years. We have also invited friends to make performances and installations in our house, so it should be good fun. If you want to come along Just let us know. Hope to see you at our party!

Arts Birthday will feature an assortment of DVD's, Installations, Performances, Photography, Collage, Bookworks, Mail Art and god knows what else we'll dig out by:
